Traces of the Srikandi's Service: Remembering Mrs. Risma's Legacy from Surabaya City Hall to the Chair of the Ministry
Even though she is no longer in office, Tri Rismaharini's name has been etched in history as one of the most influential female leaders in Indonesia. Her "explosive" but loving leadership style—like a mother disciplining her child—has left high standards for her successors.
From the narrow alleys in Surabaya to the bureaucratic desks in Jakarta, Risma has proven that service does not always have to be wrapped in sweet words, but rather with real results.
Green Heritage: Changing the "Face" of Surabaya
For the residents of Surabaya, Risma is a figure who saved their city from slums. As an ITS Architecture graduate, he has a keen eye for urban planning. During his two terms in office (2010–2020), Surabaya was transformed into a city of a thousand parks.
People certainly remember how he didn't hesitate to go straight out to direct traffic during heavy rain or pick up rubbish on the street. His courage to close down the Dolly Gang localization became the bravest historical record in his political career, in order to change the future of children in the area.
Digital Revolution: The Pioneer of E-Government
One of Risma's "invisible" but most crucial legacies is the digitalization of bureaucracy. He is a pioneer of e-Procurement and e-Budgeting systems. Thanks to this system, gaps in corruption within the Surabaya City Government have been reduced to a minimum.
It was this achievement that brought him world recognition as one of the best mayors on earth, until he was finally entrusted with the position of President of UCLG-ASPAC (Asia Pacific Association of Municipal Governments).
Last assignment at the Ministry of Social Affairs
In December 2020, Risma was summoned by President Jokowi to improve the Ministry of Social Affairs during the difficult times of the pandemic. He entered when public trust in social assistance was at its lowest point.
At the Ministry of Social Affairs, he carried out data "cleaning". Millions of duplicate data are deleted so that help actually reaches the right hands. Even though his term of office has now ended, the foundation of data transparency that he built is an important foundation for Indonesia's social security system in the future.
Closing: Unending Devotion to Position
Now, after relinquishing her official position, Tri Rismaharini has returned to society. However, for many people, she is still "Mother" for the people of Surabaya and a fighter for marginalized people.
His life story—from an ordinary civil servant to a minister—is proof that integrity and firmness are the keys to bringing about change. His tenure may have ended, but his legacy lives on in every beautiful park and every transparent digital system in this country. (Wikipedia)
