Arabic Not in the Top 3! This is the country with the most mosques, RI is in 1st place

In various discussions about the Islamic world, many people think that Arab countries will automatically be the leaders in the number of mosques. However, the latest data actually shows different facts. Indonesia is recorded as the country with the largest number of mosques in the world, surpassing countries in the Middle East.

This finding is both interesting and encouraging, considering that Indonesia is known as the country with the largest Muslim population globally.

Why can Indonesia be number one?
Demographically and geographically, there are several factors that explain this achievement:

1. Largest Muslim Population in the World
With a Muslim population reaching hundreds of millions of people, the need for religious facilities is widespread in remote villages.

2. Distribution of the Archipelago Region
Indonesia consists of thousands of islands. Every Muslim community in various regions builds mosques to facilitate access to daily worship.

3. Culture of Mutual Cooperation and Self-Help
Many mosques were built on independent community initiative, ranging from small to large scale, such as the Istiqlal Mosque, which is one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia.

So what about Arab countries?
Interestingly, Arab countries are not in the top three in terms of total number of mosques. In fact, historically, this area is the birthplace of Islam.

For example, Saudi Arabia has monumental and historic mosques such as the Grand Mosque in Mecca. However, in terms of the total number nationally, the figure is still below that of Indonesia.

This shows that the number of mosques is greatly influenced by the density and distribution of the Muslim population, not merely history or religious symbols.

Important Points to Know:
• Indonesia is recorded as the country with the largest number of mosques in the world.
• Arab countries are not in the top three in terms of quantity.
• The main determining factors are the number of Muslim population and regional distribution.
• The self-help culture of Indonesian society played a major role in the construction of mosques.

This achievement is not just a statistical figure, but a reflection of the strength of the religious life of Indonesian society. However, what is more important than numbers is how mosques function as centers of worship, education and empowerment of the people.

With good management, mosques become not only symbols, but also the driving force of civilization that brings broad benefits to society.
