Saudi Arabia Allows Foreigners with a Minimum Salary of IDR. 216 Per Month Buy Alcohol

Saudi Arabia has relaxed strict rules regarding the sale of alcohol to non-Muslim foreigners, but only to those with incomes above 50,000 riyals or around IDR 213 million per month. The new policy, which was first reported by Bloomberg. 

To be able to buy alcohol, foreigners are required to show a salary certificate before being allowed into Riyadh's only alcoholic beverage shop. 

The shop opened last year and initially only served foreign diplomats, but is now also accessible to non-Muslims with premium residency status.

Arab Saudi melonggarkan aturan ketat terkait penjualan alkohol bagi warga asing non-Muslim, namun hanya bagi mereka yang berpenghasilan di atas 50.000 riyal atau sekitar Rp213 juta per bulan. Kebijakan baru itu, yang pertama kali dilaporkan Bloomberg.

Untuk dapat membeli alkohol, warga asing wajib menunjukkan sertifikat gaji sebelum diizinkan masuk ke satu-satunya toko minuman beralkohol di Riyadh.

Toko tersebut dibuka tahun lalu dan awalnya hanya melayani diplomat asing, namun kini juga dapat diakses oleh non-Muslim dengan status residensi premium.
